Thought they might play a role but I didn't realize their powers were so extensive. We could see each other's pasts.

Do you know anything about exactly what sorts of powers they have? I've encountered some that caused hallucinations on contact deeper in the forest, but seeing and experiencing the memory of another person by placing down a gift is a large leap from that.

That's a great question, but I don't know the answer. :( Sorry.

The green-eyed spirits are the ones known for triggering hallucinations, but I really doubt they were behind the shrines. They're nasty and mean and like to take a more direct approach to messing with you guys. And they don't come into town very often.

As for the rest of the spirits, it's REALLY hard to tell exactly what they're capable of? They're so different from each other, just like you guys... IDK how they pulled off the thing with the shrines, but since it doesn't sound like the shrines were meant to freak you out, at least not on purpose.

That's the usual difference, as far as I can tell. The green-eyeds will mess with you on purpose, but the regular forest spirits... They screw up sometimes! But they mean well. Ish. Usually.

Looked like jellyfish. I don't remember green eyes. But as you say, they're variable.

Do you know if they're native to this world?

Jellyfish is new, but even I haven't seen all the forest spirits in this place. Who knows how many are out there?

...I'm not sure where the forest spirits came from? I don't THINK they were around before this place went dark, but I don't know much about the before times.

Maybe you'll find some stuff around town that'll clue you in? Most of the town is left over from the pre-darkness days, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Some of it was! It's hard to tell sometimes. But Beacon was a town long before this place went dark.
